Week workout update #7

Happy Monday to everyone! I LOVE MONDAYS!

Our order of Shakeolgy came in this past week, we got the Chocolate and Greenberry flavors. My wife likes the chocolate better then the Greenberry so we've got both just because I like variety and enjoy making up recipes for the different shakes.

I'm also making notes and will be taking some weekly pics to check for changes. I've heard it helps support healthy hair growth...so there's hope. :) ***Note*** Shakeology makes no claim to prevent or reduce baldness....dammit!

Here's this weeks workout schedule. I made a modification to last week's schedule, I did P90X Back and Biceps on Friday, X-Stretch on Saturday.

Sunday: P90X Core Synergistics
Monday: Tony Horton One on One Plyo Legs
Tuesday: P90X Chest, Shoulders & Triceps with Ab RipperX
Wednesday: Tony Horton One on One Cardio 5-6
Thursday: P90X+ Abs Core Plus & Interval X
Friday: P90X Back and Biceps & ChaLEAN Extreme Ab Burner
Saturday: GolfX & Tony Horton One on One Fountain of Youth Yoga

Doesn't that look like a fun workout week?! I Think so!

Friday Humor

Thank's to my brother who sent this to me today, he got it from a woman in his office who is just finishing up her first round of P90X. Enjoy!

WOMAN'S WEEK AT THE GYM

If you read this without laughing out loud, there is something wrong with you. This is dedicated to everyone who ever attempted to get into a regular workout routine.

Dear Diary,
For my birthday this year, my daughter (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me.

Although I am still in great shape since being a high school football cheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try.

I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Belinda, who identified herself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear.

My daughter seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.
_____________________________
MONDAY:
Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Belinda waiting for me. She is something of a Greek goddess - with blond hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white smile.
Woo Hoo!!

Belinda gave me a tour and showed me the machines. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which she conducted her aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring!

Belinda was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time she was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week-!!
__________________________
TUESDAY:

I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Belinda made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then she put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. Belinda's rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT-!! It's a whole new life for me.
_______________________________
WEDNESDAY:
The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals.. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club parking lot.

Belinda was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. Her voice is a little too perky for that early in the morning and when she scolds, she gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying.

My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Belinda put me on the stair monster. Why the heck would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Belinda told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. She said some other crap too.
_______________________________
THURSDAY:

Belinda was waiting for me with her vampire-like teeth exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late - it took me that long to tie my shoes. Belinda took me to work out with dumbbells. When she was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. She sent another skinny witch to find me.Then, as punishment, she put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.

____________________
FRIDAY:
I hate that witch Belinda more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid, skinny, anemic, anorexic little cheerleader. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her with it.

Belinda wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the stupid barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich.

The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director?
________________________________
SATURDAY:

Belinda left a message on my answering machine in her grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing her voice made me want to smash the machine with my planner; however, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.
________________________________
SUNDAY:

I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go and thank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my daughter (the little brat) will choose a gift for me that is fun -- like a root canal or a hysterectomy. I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!!

Week workout update

Hey folks, just getting a chance to update the site with this week's workout. Since I was traveling to San Francisco Monday and Tuesday I had a Road Warrior type workout.

Sunday: One on One Thirty Fifteen Routine & Turbo Jam AbsJam
Monday: P90 Fat Burning Express
Tuesday: One on One Road Warrior
Wednesday: P90X Shoulders & Arms with Ab RipperX
Thursday: One on One Cardio 5-6 & Fountain of Youth Yoga
Friday: One on One Plyo Legs
Saturday: GolfX & P90X X-Stretch

One thing I also wanted to note for those of you out there doing the new ChaLEAN Extreme program. If you're starting the program after doing P90X you're going to need to make an adjustment to your nutrition, be sure to read all the materials with ChaLEAN Extreme and recalculate your caloric intake. There's a big difference in calories burned between P90X and ChaLEAN Extreme, don't make the mistake of thinking you can continue down the nutritional path eating as much as you did with P90X.

ChaLEAN is an awesome program and you'll get fantastic results but remember, Nutrition is key to any success with a fitness program, don't neglect it you'll regret it!

Value of "The Gym"

A little history for you folks first before I get going:

For over 20 years I've been a member of one gym or an other starting when I was in the Air Force and going to the local base gym where my buddy Chris dragged me out of my base dorm room and said, "Come One, we're working out!". That's a story for another time. But what started as a simple workout at a crappy base gym turned into a fitness passion. I was ALWAYS a member of a gym and before I got married and had kids I used it 5 times a week. I had some results, but NOTHING compared to the results I got from doing P90X.

Recently I read someone posted that P90X is overrated and that a gym membership was far more valuable. Really? Lets do some numbers just for giggles;

Today I decided to take my workout, One on One with Tony Horton Thirty Fifteen Routine to the local Gym, (starts with the letter "G"), cost me $5 for a walk in workout. It's Sunday, kids in the house and I was feeling sluggish so I figured I'd mix it up a bit AND I wanted to try the Lever pullups on a higher pull up bar to see how it would go. They were great by the way, thanks for asking. :) On the way out I asked the young gal at the front desk for a breakdown for prices.

Option 1: 12 months
$149 Enrollment
$14 First month dues
$14 Last month dues
$25 Credit card processing fee
$199 Total
$14 per month

Option 2: 12 months
$0 Enrollment
$39 First month dues
$39 Last month dues
$25 Credit card processing fee
$103 Total
$39 per month

There is NO Nutritional Plan, No Free Support Coach, No workout schedule or plan, just the use of the gym, no chance of winning cash or prizes just for workout out. That's the value? I'm sorry I don't see the value there.

P90X is $119.85 & you get a Nutritional Plan, Online support coach, scheduled workout plan, chance to win up to $1000 when you log your workouts in WOWY, AND I can guarantee you'll get results in 90 Days! And if P90X isn't your bag, try one of the many other Beachbody programs, I double-dog-dare you! :)

Happy Sunday!

Steve Edwards Top 20 Questions about Shakeology

Hey Everyone,

At the Team Beachbody Summit this weekend we launched a product we’ve been working on for a few years. It’s called Shakeology. I think it’s better served by its tag line, The Healthiest Meal of the Day.

It’s a protein shake, greens formulation, pre and probiotic supplement, anti-oxidant, phytonutrient, adaptogen, enzyme formulation all rolled into something that tastes like dessert. In short, it’s the smartest 140 calories you can put into your body.

It’s not officially out yet, unless you’re a Beachbody coach, but you’ll be hearing a lot about it soon enough. Today I’m going to beat you to the punch by answering the top 20 questions we had this weekend. If you have more questions, we’ll be holding a series of chats and webinars about it over the next few weeks. You can also read about it on my blog:

http://steve-edwards.blogspot.com/

And you can read more about the product at www.shakeology.com

Now on to the FAQs.

============================================

Should I continue to take Activit, Peak Health, or other multi-vitamins along with Shakeology?

While Shakeology contains a lot of vitamins and minerals it’s still recommended that you take a multi-vitamin, especially if you’re working out. In fact, Shakeology will help increase the bioavailability of your vitamin if taken together. If you skip your vitamin your nutrient bases will still be covered but an active person—especially doing a workout like P90X—will always be struggling to meet the nutrients requirements placed on the body. Combining Peak Health Formula and Shakeology can keep you charging through even the most intense exercise program.

I already have some Meal Replacement. Should I throw it out and switch to Shakeology?

You shouldn’t throw it out but Shakeology is a far more thorough formulation. Use your old Meal Replacement at times when you’re active or as a “poor man’s Recovery Formula”. The higher sugar and lower fiber content of Meal Replacement make it better around the time you are exercising.

Can I take this and Results and Recovery Formula?

Yes but not together! Recovery Formula should only be taken during or after exercise when you’ve been exhausting your body’s blood sugar. At any other time Shakeology would be your preferred option.

Should I still take an omega supplement?

Yes as there is no EPA/DHA (the two omega fatty acids in fish oil) in Shakeology.

How about Cal/Mag?

One serving of Shakeology has 500 milligrams of calcium, meaning that you can cut your dosage of Cal/Mag in half. It’s recommended that you take your Cal/Mag with Shakeology as it will help your body absorb its nutrients.

There is no food coloring. How is one green and the other brown?

The ingredients (herbal powders, grass powders, vegetable powders, and some fruit and berry powders) make color green. The base of chocolate blend is also green, but the chocolate and cocoa powders turn the color "chocolate".

Why does the chocolate have more protein?

The serving size for chocolate is 8 grams higher than for greenberry. The extra ingredients added for the chocolate blend (mostly chocolate powder and cocoa powder) add an additional 2 grams of protein for the serving size.

Does this mean I don’t have to eat any more veggies?

Not that we recommend it but, yes, you could get away with skipping your veggies if your drink Shakeology daily. Keep in mind that you still need to fill out the rest of your caloric needs and veggies are the best source of both nutrients and fiber you can eat. The healthiest diets will still contain vegetables.

What kind of protein is it made with?

The primary source of protein is from whey, which comes from milk. Whey is one of the most bioavailable protein sources. Translation: it speeds to its work of repairing your muscles and its amino acids are readily used by your body.

Is it a good source of fiber?

At 3 grams per 140 calories Shakeology is a balanced source of fiber. More importantly, its fiber sources are varied, coming from apple pectin, flax, chia meal, and yacon. The latter also happens to be one of the best prebiotic sources known to man.

Can I drink this right before a workout?

Shakeology would be much better than a meal prior to working out. If it’s immediately before, however, you’d be better served by something with more sugar and less fiber for rapid absorption, such as Recovery Formula or Meal Replacement.

Can I drink this right after a workout?

Again, it’s better than many other options available but less perfect than something designed primarily for this purpose, such as Recovery Formula.

Does it contain caffeine?

Shakeology contains no caffeine. It does contain green tea extract but the caffeine has been removed.

Is it vegetarian?

The only non-vegetarian ingredient is whey protein, which comes from milk.

I am a diabetic. How will it affect me?

We aren’t your doctor so we can’t give you an official word on this but we’re working on trying to get Shakeology approved by the American Diabetes Association.

Can I give it to my kids?

Once again, we’re in a legal realm, which we’re working on. But considering that kids are “approved” to eat Ding Dongs and Cocoa Puffs and whatever other godforsaken junk we’re pretty certain that it will clear the regulatory radar.

What about pregnant and nursing mothers?

And, again, we may run into legal stumbles but c’mon, this stuff is nothing but healthy natural foods.

Can I mix this in with food I'm cooking/baking?

While possible, cooking would upset the nutrient balance of Shakeology’s ingredients and it’s highly recommended that you drink it at room temperature or cooler.

Will it mix OK in my shaker cup?

Shakeology mixes at least as well as most meal replacement shakes and can be hand mixed easily. For a drive-in style creamy shake, however, a blender is preferred.

Do you have any recipes for Shakeology?

We sure do! The web site at www.shakeology.com should be up and running soon.

That’s all for this week. Until next time, don’t just train hard, train smart,

Steve

Post Coach Summit Workout Schedule

All you #P90X people out there who may not be big Shawn T fans or never tried any of his workouts, he's got a new program coming out called "Insanity", it's OFF THE HOOK! Think of P90X Plyometrics on CRACK! I'm not joking when I say that it seems as tho Shawn T decided to give Tony Horton a run for his money when it comes to intense workouts!

Also look for a new program called "RevAbs", & "Brazil Butt Lift". Don't laugh, that's what it's called! Oh and Shakeology is also available now as well. I liked both flavors, especially the Chocolate with banana & peanut butter, the Green Berry, tasty stuff!

New weekly workout schedule: Circuit Training Week

Monday: Tony Horton One on One Road Warrior
Tuesday: P90X+ Abs Core Plus & Interval X
Wednesday: P90X+ Total Body Plus
Thursday: Tony Horton One on One Cardio 5-6 & Fountain of Youth Yoga
Friday: Tony Horton One on One Just Arms & Turbo Jam Ab Jam
Saturday: GolfX & Power 90 Sculpt 5-6
Sunday: Power 90 Fat Burning Express & Fountain of Youth Yoga

This is kind of a semi recovery week for me, I'm trying to catch up from the whirlwind weekend and get back onto a normal schedule. Next week I'll revamp it all and see what we can come up with.

Shakeology Nutrition Simplified

We had a chance to sample the two different flavors of Shakeology while at the Coach Summit, I loved both flavors Green Berry and Chocolate.

I was also part of the initial coach testing group so I was fortunate enough to get to sample both flavors for 30 days.

2009 Summit Workouts

After the recent Beachbody Coach Summit I was thinking that Beachbody needs to make the different workouts with Tony Horton, Chalene Johnson & Shawn T available to those who didn't get a chance to attend the Summit. Sort of like the Tony Horton One on One workouts.

I don't know about you folks but after my Friday workout with Tony and the Saturday medley workout with all of the trainers, I'm still feeling it! Why not share that "love" with everyone?

Comment and lets see if we can get the powers that be to "Bring It"!

More on the Coach Summit

I'm sitting here reflecting back on this weekend's events and trying to put it all into words when I received an email from a good friend and fellow Team Beachbody coach Dave Ward. He shared his latest update from his blog. The Fit Club Network I couldn't agree with him more, this past weekend has been a whirlwind of activity.

Believe me when I say that if you've ever wanted to be part of something special you need to seriously consider Team Beachbody. This isn't some crazy MLM business, this is about sincerely changing people's lives and I'm not talking about just financially, because that's really not what Team Beachbody coaching is all about. I challenge anyone to take an honest look at Dave's post and associated videos and say this is about the money, there are hundreds of businesses that you or I could do if it was about making money.

Why did I decide to become a Beachbody coach? Was it for the money? Not on your life! It was because I get to help people like Tommy Mygrant overcome obstacles they NEVER thought possible. Now I'm not Tommy's coach, nor would I ever claim to be a significant participant in his success and transformation but it's people LIKE Tommy that I get to help. At the end of the day, it's YOU who have to make that change. You have to be the one to push play, eat healthy, and make the commitment to stick with it.

People will ask me, "Why did Beachbody create the network marketing business for it's coaches?" One thing to remember is that the Beachbody coaches used to do this for free! They were the customers who had stepped up on the Beachbody message boards to provide support and guidance for their customers. Beachbody generates up to 30,000 new customers from their TV infomercials every week, no way could they provide the support they felt necessary for their customers to have success so they tapped their network of coaches on the message boards to become their first Team Beachbody Coaches and thus the coaching "business" was born.

Through their Customer Lead Program, Beachbody assigns these new customers to it's qualified coaches to help them succeed! How great is that?! Beachbody "GIVES" qualified coaches new customers to HELP the customers succeed! Does it cost Beachbody customers anything for this assistance? Nope! Watch this web presentation for more information and let me know if you have any questions.

If you're one of those people who would like to help people get fit and make an income while doing it, you just can not pass this up! What have you got to lose there's no risk and the start up costs can be as little as $40!

Check it out!

Post Coach Summit HIGH!

Well we just got back from the annual Beachbody Coach Summit, what a fantastic time! I've been a coach for almost two years so besides all the incredible new information we get to learn about I get a chance to reconnect with so many special people I've met via Facebook, Beachbody Message boards, Twitter, ect. So connecting with everyone is like a family reunion.

I also get a chance to meet new people, folks I'd seen on the message boards or those who have had not met, like Coke Whitworth! Dude, you rock my friend it was great getting a chance to meet up with you.

But the main event of the Summit was the Million Dollar Body Game. Check out the Day two video.

More a bit later, got to run out of the house for a bit! Daddy duty calls!

Call from a new Beachbody believer

I got a call from a friend of mine this morning, that just made my day. He called to tell me that he's down over 8 lbs and an inch around his waist since starting his Beachbody workout mix. He started by saying, "I just wanted to give you the Beachbody update". He and his wife have been mixing in Hip Hop Abs and Ten Minute Trainer and loving it. H's so surprised that at 50 he never thought he would be able to have this type of changes in such a short period of time. BTW, they're into the program about 3 weeks.

I love these kinds of calls! I especially enjoy them from friends who were once skeptics about the effectiveness of the Beachbody programs. :)

Their success has motivated them to move the elliptical and treadmill out of their workout room, just taking up valuable space!

Added news is that he's planning on adding a little P90 to his rotation to get some resistance work and add some muscle. Validation that these silly little in home programs WORK! All you need to do is Decide.Commit.Succeed

Coach Summit Workout schedule

This week is Beachbody Coach Summit week so my workout schedule will be a bit unknown. Since we'll be working out with Tony Horton on Friday and Saturday you never know what he's going to come up with but my guess is that it will be a lot like his Road Warrior workouts without resistance bands and then one day of Yoga.

Really looking forward to the week and getting to hook up with so many other coaches I've not seen since last year's event and this year promises to be even better!

Check out my Facebook Page and follow me on Twitter for updates and pics.

Monday: P90X Chest & Back with Ab Ripper X
Tuesday: P90X Plyometrics
Wednesday: P90X Shoulders & Arms with Ab Ripper X
Thursday: Travel day but probably One on One Fountain of Youth Yoga and or Road Warrior
Friday: Tony Horton Summit Workout, (Cardio 5-6 & Road Warrior)
Saturday: Tony Horton Summit Workout, (some kind of Yoga)
Sunday: Travel day / Rest but will probably do a bike ride with the kids when we get back, I'm sure they'll be itching to get out for a ride.

Three "R's" of Coaching

Here's a great video about the keys to earning extra income through the Team Beachbody Coaching program.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

No question is a dumb question...

I had a meeting with a new client today who is just starting P90X and like many he's very excited and enthusiastic about the next 90 days. Understand that I've been through the program many times and gone over what's needed for getting great results with the program. Sometimes when I get to talking about the program I start talking real fast and forget that for almost everyone getting started it's a lot of information to try to digest all at once.

So today in my meeting I realized that the reason why many clients start out strong with a program and then taper off might just be because they really don't know how to ask what may seem like a dumb question. What everyone should know is that there aren't any dumb questions! Getting into a fitness program is hard, it takes dedication, it takes being committed to your goals and sometimes you just have to be willing to ASK for help!

I've found and studies of shown that people are far more likely to succeed at a fitness and weight loss goal when they have a support group or person to lean on when things get difficult, if they need some motivation or just get answers to questions.

So, How Can I Help You Decide.Commit.Succeed?
