LAP-BAND for the not so Morbidly Obese

***********Rant from Brad***************

LAP-BAND procedure for people 30 pounds overweight!

Today Suzette and I went to lunch and ran into one of our neighbors, she mentioned that she had a girl friend in LA who’s husband did gastric bypass surgery, they were in the process of starting up a new company that was going to focus on the LAP-BAND procedure for celebrities and other folks with a lot of extra cash to blow.

Now that's not such a big deal as we see the super rich and over-indulged Hollywood types spend insane amounts of money on lavish things most of us can't comprehend. The surprising thing was that this start up was going to be focusing on people who are not morbidly obese but for those people who are 30-50 lbs. overweight!

People don’t get 30+ lbs overweight overnight, why is it that they feel it’s easier to have an intrusive procedure done that will likely take just as long to produce results as establishing a healthy, active lifestyle that incorporates good nutritional habits and exercise?

She mentioned that the LAP-BAND process was already being done on some Brazilian models and others who aren't your traditional candidate for such a procedure.

The FDA is currently investigating the procedure for those who are only 30-50 lbs. overweight but in my opinion it will be allowed to take place with little resistance.

It just never ceases to amaze me how some folks will go to such extreme measures to lose weight. Consider the health issues of reducing the size of ones digestive system, not to mention the overall on-going costs. Just UNREAL!

How many people have we seen or read about on this message board that has had incredible results from proper diet, exercise and determination to succeed? The list it too many to mention, wait until you see this years Million Dollar Body Game finalists, you’ll be amazed at some of the transformations!

I’m just one of those people who believe that there is NO substitute for hard work and dedication to your overall health and fitness. I’ve also never been 30+ lbs overweight so I also don’t know the struggles associated with overcoming excessive weight so I can only look at my own experience and formulate an opinion.

Sorry for the rant, just couldn’t help myself.

that is the STUPIDEST thing I've ever heard of--Geez, well think of it this way, they'll get thin, but they will still be flabby! NOT so hot!

That is so scary!! I get nervous about people who have surgery for weight loss. What if there are complications? What if you make it through with terrible results, or even worse, you don't make it at all?? (I saw a liposuction documentary about 10 years ago and it scared me to no end!) That's why we must keep on sharing!! Someone needs us!!
