$250K MDB Game Finale Entry
Just finished submitting my entry for the Beachbody 2008 Million Dollar Body Game. The final 8 will be selected later in February for the Grand Final in March.
For the life of me I can't figure out why more people don't submit their transformation stories to Beachbody, they've got by far the most impressive winner give away marketing program out there.
The Daily WOWY Game is second to none! I've seen some programs and companies who give out $100 here and there but Beachbody gives away items from the new iTouch iPod to $1000 in cash simply for logging your workout or activity. Tell me, why wouldn't you log a workout and get your name in the pool for the drawing? I know I wouldn't mind grabbing one of the daily winner prizes. The really neat thing about the WOWY game is that you don't have to be doing a Beachbody program or workout, if you run, walk, swim, play golf, whatever it is, you can log your workout and enter to win..for FREE!
Get in the GAME! Do something everyday, workout, walk the dog, just get off your backside and get active and then top it off with logging your activity! Do that for 30 days, and see how you feel I suspect you'll feel a heck of a lot better then you imagined.

No Pay Increase this year!
I thought might grab your attention, I received this email from my brother who currently works for a large company and is a Team Beachbody Coach.
===================================
Brad,
Thought I'd share this with you.
I received an email today from my manager. He was commenting on a letter written by our company president stating the there will be no merit increases this year for all salaried employees. Obviously yesterday was an interesting day with various attitudes being displayed by many of my co-workers. Most of the responses were of bitterness and disgust.
Not me, I was happy, because I chose to take charge of my financial future a year ago when I decided to become an Independent Team Beachbody coach. I gave myself a merit increase this year, not having to rely on the whims of upper management of a fortune 500 company to define my value with a “merit” increase has been more liberating then I could have imagined
I couldn’t be happier as my increase was decided a year ago! Thanks Beachbody!
Scott Eickman
Independent Team Beachbody Coach
=====================================
What Scott has simply and easily outlined was that it's a lot easier then you might think to increase your income AND get fit in the process. I asked him what he believed the merit income would have been for those employees who were so upset. That number was about 3.5%, the typical employee would have seen about a $50 weekly increase, $200 a month, and about $2,600 a year!
Doesn't sound like that much does it? I know that Scott will far exceed that annual merit increase by a minimum factor of 6! You do the math!

Why Team Beachbody Coaches work!
Cruising the blogs this evening and again finding a great read from Carl Daikeler pointing out the incredible opportunity with becoming a Team Beachbody Coach.
Why Network Marketing?
I love creating things, building something that will be productive and solve a problem. I also like building income over the long term. Creativity, contribution, and constant steady year-over-year growth... that's how I approach what I do.
Beachbody exceeded $300 million in sales last year, largely due to the success of infomercials like Turbo Jam, P90X, Ten Minute Trainer, Slim in 6 and Hip Hop Abs. We have the most compelling pipeline of new products and infomercial since we launched the company. So, why network marketing?
I believe the real opportunity in fitness is not in building a huge monolithic company that simply sells product to people. Companies have been trying to leverage fitness to build huge businesses for decades. Yet the obesity trend grows, and no fitness company has really succeeded in getting people to REALLY embrace what it takes to get healthy and fit. Not the equipment makers. Not the gym chains. Not the weight loss centers. Not even Beachbody. Yes, we continue to grow, infomercial by infomercial, selling great product to people, and we've had some amazing success stories. But many people still will start-then-quit just like everything else they've tried unless there is another dynamic at work.
That's what the Beachbody Coach Network is about -- adding the powerful dynamic of peer-support, the "Share" of "Play, Shake and Share", to help people stay accountable to their desire to get healthy and fit.
Our network marketing business is 16,000 coach-distributors strong and growing fast. We assign customer leads to qualified coaches (for free) when one of our TV customers says they want support to succeed with their program. The coach helps that customer set their start date, and stay accountable to consistency. Our coaches are not fitness experts or nutritionists -- but friends who care about revolutionizing how people approach their own health and fitness.
In exchange, in the future when those customer leads purchase another product from Beachbody, the coach gets the commission.
And it works. Anne Dovel sent me this email string... Amazing stuff:

Subject: new customer lead
Hey Carl. Been a while since I’ve sent you a thumb’s up for everything you do. I thought you’d like to see a customer who is grateful for the coaching program. :) Thanks for everything. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and wish you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. :) Anne
Hi Anne! I am proud of the difference that I see. I know I can do this. It just takes time and effort. I honestly can't thank you enough for all your help. I am really grateful that Beachbody started the coaching program because I don't know that I would have been able to do all this without your help. I know my husband was trying to help me but he couldn't really come up with a menu for me and he really doesn't understand where I am coming from about hating the way I look. You do because you are a mom too and I think that is so cool to talk to you. You understand so much more than anyone else I've talked too. But anyways I will talk to you later. I hope you get your knitting fixed.
Thanks,
Susan

Anne gets it, and now another customer has had success. As Anne said to Susan in a reply: "The reason Beachbody started the coaching was because they found out that someone had a greater chance of succeeding even if they just had someone to talk to who had been through the challenges they are going through!"
And it's a win-win that will continue to grow. I know that because I get so many emails like this one from part-time coach Joey Petri. While many coaches are still working their way to their first check and income is always a factor of skill and effort, here's a young coach who is one of the many people who are turning this opportunity into a dream job:

I just wanted to share this with you guys because I'm super excited.
I added up all my commission checks from 2008 and I earned $13,394.98!!! This is amazing to me and I know that 2009 will be an ever bigger and better year. This money allowed me to go to school full time and pursue a 2nd degree in Phys Ed, this allowed me to live in my place and not move home, this paid my bills and my gas. (Disclaimer I also had some help from my savings as a pharma rep.) This is going to make 2009 an amazing and exciting year. Thanks again for all of your support!!
Joey
P.S. Traci, I still remember our 5 minute conversation at Tony's Camp in NY and I told you about how I was considering going back to school for my phys ed degree. You said Beachbody would allow me the freedom to do what I want to do and I'm so thrilled and excited to continue to make that conversation, that dream, a reality.
============
So when people ask me "Why Network Marketing", I respond that it is an imperative. Growth is one thing, contribution is another. This business model has both, and instead of one giant company, we're going to be a company of a million coaches, each their own independent company, helping 100 million people get healthy and fit. That's what we will achieve, and that's why network marketing is a priority!

I love the Feeling of a Great Workout!
I love the feeling after a great workout! I did one of my new favorites, One on One with Tony Horton Thirty Fifteen Routine. The initial thought of doing 12 sets of 30 rep pushups in combination with 12 sets of 15 pullups can be a mental Mt. Everest!
For the record I did 360 pushups and 146 Pullups to include 8 Levers, I struggle with the Lever moves as I have a door frame pull up bar and I've got to bend my knees at the start so it's a bit awkward, but getting better. Stepped on the scale this morning at 177 lbs.
Challenge yourself and be surprised

The Abundance Diet
Missy Costello prepares food for me every week. She is the reason why I'm healthier than ever. She makes it, I eat it. Whole fresh foods prepared right in my kitchen. This gal knows her stuff. This is a piece she wrote for her blog and I'm passing it along to you.
Enjoy the Knowledge!
If you are a living, breathing human being, then chances are you’ve been on a diet once, twice or maybe multiple times in your life. The word diet, as described in Webster’s dictionary means; “fare; what is eaten or drunk habitually”. If you think about it, this means any food that we eat on a daily basis. So, according to Webster, we are on a diet every day of our life, just by eating habitually. Unfortunately in today’s times, the word diet has been described as a way to lose weight. It almost has a negative connotation to it. When most people hear the word diet, they think “lack, or deprivation”, which is usually true. But
Human beings are as different from one another as any snowflake that falls from the sky. There are no two of us alike, anywhere in the world. We all have our own distinct genetic make up, we differ in the way our body burns calories, absorbs nutrients and so on. Most of these diets are based on some sort of deprivation and are very unbalanced. The abundance diet is just the opposite.
If you want to lose excess pounds, maintain a healthy and fit body weight, burn calories, feel good inside and out and keep away disease and illness, then you will need to adapt a whole foods eating lifestyle. Or as I like to call it, the Abundance Diet! A whole food eating lifestyle is a way of eating where you do not deprive yourself. This way of eating allows you to have an abundance of whole foods; veggies, leafy greens, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, lean proteins and healthy fats. You can eat as much as you want, as long as you are eating a whole foods diet, without gaining weight. You will actually even drop weight.
Of course, as with any change in your eating habits, you will want to take baby steps, so that you do not set yourself up for failure. Below are some simple steps you can take to help change your eating habits for lasting results.
1. Adapt the 80/20 Rule: Eat a whole foods healthy diet 80% of the time and allow yourself to splurge the other 20% of the time. This allows the mind to believe that it is not deprived. Sounds pretty abundant to me!
2. Upgrade one food per week: switch out white rice for brown rice, white flour for whole grain flour, white sugar for natural sweeteners such as honey or brown rice syrup.
3. Cut out one processed food/drink per week: give up your twinkies, this week, and see how you feel. Cut out your diet soda…just for a week. YOU CAN decide after one week if you want to continue to drink this over processed, chemical ridden beverage or if you want to be committed to your health. (for more on the effects of artificial sweeteners visit http://www.newliving.com/issues/jan_07/articles/sweeteners.html)
4. Add one new whole food per week: if you’ve never had kale before, give it a try. Eat something you’ve never thought of eating. Having trouble knowing how to prepare it? Just email me missy@karmachow.com or go online for tasty recipes at www.wholefoodsmarket.com
5. Have a piece of fruit and a handful of nuts for a snack instead of those greasy, salty chips. The fiber in fruit, and the protein & fat in the nuts will help to keep you feeling full longer and will regulate your blood sugar.
6. Drink plenty of water: forego that afternoon soda and have water instead. . Drinking plenty of water keeps our appetite at bay and our body well hydrated. Sometimes we may mistake thirst for hunger. Drink an 8-oz glass of water and see how you feel after 15 minutes.
7. Cut back on caffeine: if you drink coffee, try cutting back by drinking half decaf with half regular. Or switch to heart healthy green tea! But remember, for every cup of caffeine you drink, you will need to drink extra water to hydrate!
These are just a few ideas for ways you can begin to eat healthy and abundantly. Once you start to make changes and adapt this healthy whole foods lifestyle, your cravings will subside and your body will no longer want the junk food. This will result in a natural weight loss, clearer skin, better digestion, less mood swings and so on. The list of benefits is endless.
Remember, allow yourself that 20% cushion so that you wont’ binge. Reward yourself with a treat after dinner, or an afternoon snack. Also be mindful that the healthier you eat, the healthier you will be, feel & look. We all know that old adage, “you are what you eat”. So adopt this as your new Mantra because it is the biggest truth that has ever been told!!!”

Summary of One on One with Tony Horton
I've had a chance to go over the current release of One on One with Tony Horton workouts and so far, I'm a HUGE FAN! I love them, quick, no nonsence, just bring it!
One of the routines, P90 Road Warrior is much like the P90 series stuff so if you're familiar with P90 you'll know what to expect but he's designed it to be done with one resistance band, no weights. You can use weights but it's for the "Road Warrior".
Other workouts include.
Thirty Fifteen Routine: which I've already commented about, 24 total sets of pushups and pullups!
Just Arms: Biceps, Triceps and forearms, I like it but found it just a little slow and get more out of the P90X Shoulders and Arms workout, but if you're looking for an arm routine, it's a killer.
Killer Abs: Is just that, KILLER! You do Ab Ripper 200 and Ab RipperX, only difference is you're doing 20 reps on the Ab RipperX routine and Tony forgets to do Wide leg or Crossed Leg situps. About 25 mintues total.
Plyo Legs: Put Plyometrics and the Legs portion of Legs and Back together. There are several new moves but if you're looking to blast your legs & a$$ well this is the one! My legs were sore for 3 days afterwards!
Fountain of Youth Yoga: Tony breaks down YogaX into about 45 minutes which includes stretching and a little "abba-dabba", some great ab work at the end...."it's a beautiful thing", (he says that A LOT in this workout for some reason)
These are great workouts to add to the collection of P90, P90X, & P90X+. There is no nutritional program and or specific fitness rotation for these, wanted to clarify that.
For right now I've replaced P90X Chest and Back with the Thirty Fifteen Routine, Plyo Legs in place of Plyometrics, Fountain of Youth Yoga instead of YogaX and doing Killer Abs instead of Ab RipperX.

New Years Resolutions
It's been a while since I updated the blog, been cranking away with a hybrid mix of P90X, Tony Horton One on One, and ChaLEAN Extreme workouts. I got a little off schedule with the holiday trips out of town so I'm mixing stuff up. Working out really well however!
Well the holidays are over, we had a great trip to the different family members for Christmas visits. Now the New Year is in full swing, I'm sure many people out there have all taken this time to start a New Years Resolution. Have you?
To be honest with you, I've never done a New Years Resolution. The thought that you can just turn on or off the "change" you seek simply because the date goes from December 31st to January 1st never made much sense to me. If you truly want to make any kind of change in your life, why wait?
However if you have taken the opportunity to make that resolution for a healthy lifestyle change then I urge you to look to places like the Team Beachbody message boards for support and if you're looking for a place to give you the "kick in the pants" type support, vist my coaching thread Team Xtreme Fitness
I am all about keeping it real. We all get up, we have highs and lows with our health and fitness journey, WE ALL DO! It's how we handle these ups and downs that will define you and your success.
No Excuses, no explanations, no reason to go on about why this or that happened. Get over it, move on and don't beat yourself up about it.
Does that sound a bit cold and harsh? Perhaps, however what do you think the result of a personal stumble if we spend lots of time rehashing it, explaining it and making excuses for it? Take personal responsibility for your workouts, your nutrition and your fitness program. Once you do that you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish! I'm not here to judge you, label you or coddle you. I tell this to people all the time, especially my good friends and family who I'm in close contact with everyday, it doesn't matter to me if you've not worked out in a couple weeks, or if you haven't followed a good diet. What matters to me is that you have learned what works for you and what will work for you to maintain whatever goals you look to achieve.
Some people want to be RIPPED! That's great, I happen to be one of those people, but others are just looking to drop some body fat so they can fit into those size (whatever) jeans again. Regardless of what your goal is, remember that it's your goal; you're the one who has to achieve it, maintain it and live with it going forward. Believe me, I know how hard it can be to achieve and maintain a personal goal like getting ripped. I can't tell you how many times I've had someone come up to me and say, "well it's EASY for you because you're fit." EASY? Trust me, this isn't easy! What's easy is being a 43 year old guy and sitting on the couch drinking beer and eating chips and pizza, that’s EASY! One thing this isn't is "EASY". (Okay, rant completed) :D
It's hard work but it's not any harder then dropping a few dress sizes and dealing with 3 kids, work, a husband, etc., like my wife Suzette has done. Her goals were and are much different then mine and I love it! She's figured out what works for her, what she can and can't eat and what workout programs she really likes and works for her, that’s what it's all about and I’m right here to help her maintain her success and to help give her that nudge when she needs it.
How fantastic is that! :D The same goes for everyone else out there who's achieved a fitness goal and been able to maintain it. "It's Simple, Just Not Easy!"
I'll be here to help provide Inspiration, Motivation, & Guidance to anyone who might need it, all you have to do is ask.
